our support for charities

Urban Photography sell a number of calendars which help charities. Men in Uniform and The Housework Calendar help breast cancer charities.    BLACK helps charities providing support for children orphaned by HIV and AIDS in Africa. And Heroes helps charities which support injured servicemen and servicewomen. In the past other titles we have published also support charities - The Gardening Calendar and Builder's Bottom both also supported Breast Cancer charities.

Which charities we help, and how much we have given

For 2007 calendars, we donated £2,181 to Cancer Research UK (registered Charity Number 1089464, www.cancerresearchuk.org), with an agreement that funds donated would be used for breast cancer. No donation was made to HIV/AIDS charities as BLACK was not published in 2007.

For 2008 breast cancer calendars, we donated £2,671.77 to Breast Cancer Care (registered charity no. 1017658, www.breastcancercare.org.uk).   We also donated £803.22 to SOS Childrens Villages (registered charity number 1069204 www.soschildrensvillages.org.uk) from sales of BLACK.

For 2009 breast cancer calendars, we donated £5,508.07 and in 2010 we donated £3141.62 to Breast Cancer Care.   We also donated £623.86 to SOS Children's Villages from the sale of BLACK calendars over these two years. Calendars were not published in 2011 and 2012.

How much goes to charity?

The amount Urban Photography gives to charities will depend on where you bought the calendar.

Calendars bought direct from Urban Photography…

For calendars bought direct from Urban Photography via our website, we will make a donation of £2.00 per calendar sold at full price.  If we do an offer, like “buy two get one free”, we will donate £2.00 for each calendar you buy, and nothing for calendars we give away free, so a total of £4.00 to charity.

Calendars bought from shops and other websites,

Urban Photography will give 10% of the amount we receive from the retailer to charity. We have different agreements with the various retailers who sell our calendars, so the amount we receive, and the amount we can pay to charity, will vary between £0.15 and £0.50 per calendar depending on where you bought the calendar from.

Calendars bought at special events…

In some cases, we run special promotions with charities, for example selling calendars at fund-raising dinners or in charity shops.  In these cases, we will give a higher donation for each calendar we sell, up to £5.00 per calendar.  The amount which will be donated and the name of the charity will be on a sticker on the front of the calendar, i.e. “£5.00 of the price you pay will be given to Breast Cancer Care”.
